A Knoxville native, Jeremy holds a J.D./M.B.A from the University of Tennessee College of Law and the University of Tennessee’s Haslam College of Business. Jeremy volunteered in the community and was a member of the law school’s Moot Court Board. He was a finalist in the moot court Advocate’s Prize Competition, where he was privileged to present arguments in front of three federal appellate court judges.

Prior to attending law school, Jeremy graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Economics. With his J.D./M.B.A, Jeremy offers clients a unique combination of business, economic, and legal advice.

Jeremy serves as a Member of the Knox County Foster Care Review Board. As an adoptive father, Jeremy is passionate about advocating for at-risk youth. He previously served as a Member of the Knox County Foster Care Review Board, was a mentor in Knoxville Leadership Foundation’s Amachi program and has served as a board member on non-profits serving youth locally and abroad.

When Jeremy isn’t practicing law or volunteering, he enjoys exercising, golfing, traveling, riding his Harley Davidson, and spending time with his lovely wife, their four children, and their toy poodle(Gunnar).

When Jim joined Egerton McAfee in January 2008, he brought with him a wealth of expertise in Real Estate and Business Transactions. He has handled real estate transactions in more than 35 states, including the purchase, sale, leasing, and subleasing of real estate, the representation of borrowers in acquisition financing, and various post-acquisition matters, including general business contracts, construction contracts and disputes, environmental permitting and compliance issues, restaurant franchise agreements, and gaming license applications and permits.

Jim is also experienced in business mergers and acquisitions, sale and purchase of national and local retail petroleum operations, national theater operations, retail petroleum operations in various states, and the sale and acquisition of coal mining operations. In addition, he offers counsel in the formation of business entities-such as corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships-as well as in business dissolution and business liquidation matters. Jim also has several years of experience assisting financial institutions with general banking and credit matters, including loan documentation and credit card transactions.

Jim also has a wealth of experience handling Business Litigation in state and federal courts, and he represents businesses and financial institutions as creditors in collection and bankruptcy proceedings.

Jim is a member of the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association and the Knoxville Bar Association. He was also a member of the Hamilton Burnett Chapter of the American Inns of Court from 1993-1996. In 1999, Jim was President of the Knoxville Barristers, the young lawyers division of the Knoxville Bar Association, and he served on the Board of Governors of the Knoxville Bar Association from December of 2008 to December of 2011. Jim is currently Co-Chairman of the Knoxville Bar Association Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers Committee, a position he has held since 2005. In addition, Jim served two three-year terms as a Commissioner for the Tennessee Lawyer Assistance Program (“TLAP”) from June of 2009 to June of 2015, and he served as Chairman of the TLAP Commission from June of 2012 until June of 2014.

Jim has been recognized by CityView Magazine as one of the Top Attorneys in Knoxville in the areas of Banking Law (2009), Collections/Foreclosures (2010 and 2012), and Environmental Law (2015).

Ms. Jackson joined the firm as an experienced litigator, having represented individuals and businesses in both state and federal courts throughout East Tennessee. Ms. Jackson now assists her clients with a range of labor and employment and dispute resolution-related matters, including providing legal counsel to avoid and resolve anticipated or existing employment-related concerns and business and commercial issues, assisting with the maintenance and enforcement of rights, and handling the prosecution and defense of civil cases.

Ms. Jackson graduated cum laude from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a B.A. in Political Science with a concentration in Public Administration. She earned her J.D. from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where she graduated cum laude with a concentration in Advocacy and Dispute Resolution. While a student at the College of Law, Ms. Jackson earned Certificates of Academic Excellence in Business Associations, Pretrial Litigation, and Interviewing and Counseling. She also served as a Student Materials Editor for the Tennessee Law Review and as a student-attorney for the University of Tennessee Legal Clinic.

Cheryl Rice focuses her practice primarily in the area of civil and commercial dispute resolution, with emphasis in

Cheryl is licensed in Tennessee, Virginia and the District of Columbia. She has extensive experience handling civil litigation matters for individuals and businesses in both state and federal courts in multiple states and regularly assists large and small companies with contract disputes, unfair trade practice claims, entity governance and other matters involving business relationships. She also represents the interests of businesses and individuals in matters including enforcement of non-compete and confidentiality agreements, trade secret matters, creditors rights issues and issues of banking law. Cheryl enjoys helping her clients resolve issues in the courtroom as well as through arbitration and mediation, and serving as their voice with opposing parties, judges and others.  In 2023, her fellow shareholders elected her Firm President.

Ms. Rice carries an “AV” rating, as voted by her peers, in the national Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. Ms. Rice has been voted a Top Attorney in Knoxville by her peers as recognized in CityView Magazine numerous times. She is a Past President of the Knoxville Bar Association and of the Tennessee Lawyers’ Association for Women, and has served on both the Tennessee Governor’s Commission for Judicial Appointments and the Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments, which she Chaired for two successive terms.

Cheryl also enjoys community involvement, serving locally on the boards of the McNabb Center and the Tennessee Memory Disorders Foundation. She is an officer in the alumni chapter for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at her alma mater, George Mason University.  Over the years, she has been an active PTA/PTSO member in local schools, assisted various youth sports teams, and taught Sunday School at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church.  In 2022 she Co-chaired the Steering Committee for the Knoxville Challenger Tennis Tournament, Tennessee’s only professional tennis tournament. In her down time, you may find her cycling, hiking, gardening or watching college sports, especially basketball.  She and her husband, Bill, are blessed with two lovely daughters and a fantastic son-in-law.
