AH, THE GOOD OLE DAYS: HOW TECHNOLOGY HAS CHANGED THE PRACTICE OF LAW by Keith Burroughs

 

In the May 2021 edition of the Knoxville Bar Association’s DICTA publication, Keith Burroughs explains the technology in his father’s law practice in the 1970’s. Wallace F. Burroughs and his secretary Ms. Clement relied on an IBM Selectric typewriter, a manual postal scale, a rotary telephone, 10-key tape adding machine, and a reel-to-reel tape recorder/player. These technologies, that are now outdated, served the needs of the firm at that time. Keith states, “it was a simpler time.” As technology continues to change, new future advancements “may very well make today the good ole days.”
