Cheryl Rice focuses her practice primarily in the area of civil litigation, with emphasis in

Cheryl has practiced law for over 20 years and is a licensed attorney in Tennessee, Virginia and the District of Columbia. She has extensive experience handling civil litigation matters for individuals and businesses in both state and federal courts and regularly assists large and small companies with breach of contract claims, unfair trade practice claims, entity governance issues, tortious interference disputes and other matters involving business relationships. She also represents the interests of businesses and individuals in matters such as enforcement of non-compete and confidentiality agreements, trade secret matters, personnel policy issues, and wrongful termination. Cheryl enjoys helping her clients work through the legal issues they face and serving as their voice with opposing parties, judges and others.

Ms. Rice carries an “AV” rating, as voted by her peers, in the national Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. She was recognized as Top Attorney by CityView Magazine in 2012 and in 2016. She is a member of the American, Tennessee, and Knox County Bar Associations and of the Litigation Sections of the TBA and ABA. She is also a past President of the Tennessee Lawyers’ Association for Women, currently serving on the Advisory Board of that organization. She co-chaired the KBA’s Juvenile Court & Child Justice Section from 2009-2015, is currently a member of the KBA’s Law Office Technology Committee and is currently serving a three-year term on the Knoxville Bar Association’s Board of Governors. In January 2016, Governor Haslam appointed her to a second term as Chair of the Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments.

Cheryl also enjoys community involvement, having served on the Board of Managers of the PTA at her children's schools, assisted various youth sports teams, teaching Sunday School at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church and serving on the Steering Committee for the Knoxville Challenger Tennis Tournament, as well as serving various projects of the Knoxville Bar Association. Her hobbies include reading, photography and watching any sporting event in which her children are taking part.
